I’m a MESSY Artist, white was banned from the closet due to the fact I would probably get paint on it.
I was also banned from paint and any other form of art the week prior to the wedding, just to avoid any skin stains or mishaps.
Heck, nice things were banned from my room/studio in the fear they would never make it out alive and unpainted.
When I said I was going to paint my wedding dress, I was surprised no one tried to steal all my paint and hide it until after the big day. Trust me there were some really concerned people! But white is not allowed in my closet………so I had to ;)
JK! Really I think it has just gotten to that point where people know the Art in me cannot be contained. Color color color!!! EVERYTHING!

Before: I got this dress at a discount store. When we purchased it, it was a size 8 and I'm barely a 1! Next I took it to Sun Rose Altertaions in Huntington Beach CA. They did a great job getting it down to size and even adding some beautiful straps.
My Addition: For months I had been cutting out and coloring pieces of lace I planed on stitching to the dress. As I laid it on the dress though it just did not look how I wanted, instead of a fade from one color to the next it just looked like patchy flowers that were messy and hard to even see. I scrapped that idea and started brainstorming a few others like colorful tule(too light), puffy paint(too shinny) and fabric dyes(didn’t take color well). Finally I was fed up with all these tests and fails, so I just took my airbrush I had been using to get nice fades of color on the flowers and just sprayed it. and kept spraying it more and more. All in all it was about 3 layers of paint on each layer of fabric and even on the inside of the lace edge.
Funny Mishap: I was under the dress spraying the inside layers when my mom notice a light pink color at the top of the start of the mermaid flare. The paint in the air was getting caught by the netting under the dress and turning the whole inside pink! Luckily we caught this before it got too bad, I lightened it with some white and no one noticed the error.
Shoes: I'm only 5ft 2in! I got those massive shoes for 3 reasons (well, 4).
1. to be taller than my LITTLE sister (the blonde)
2. tall shoes = no hem alteration needed (save the $$$)
3. good kissing height for my 6ft 2in man!
4. They are just way cute and I needed an excuse to buy those beasts ;)

At first I was 100% sure I could do this. 20min into coloring, I thought I ruined my dress. It took a few days for me to regain confidence and work on it again.
Then the girls tops, o my. Forever 21 is great for all things cheap and pretty, they had lots like these the problem was finding all 3. I got 2 from one store then assumed I could find one more at another forever 21. I was wrong. SO wrong. Unless you can find all the tops you want for each of your girls at one store, DON’T DO IT! Finding anything specific at that store is a challenge, I went to 4-5 different locations looking for that last shirt. All those locations supposedly had it in stock but it was no where to be found! In the end they ended up getting in another new supply of tops similar to the ones I purchased prior and we were able to return the 2 and get all 3 of the tops you see now.
No lie, it was stressful.
The Boys: They were easy (outfit wise)! Friar's Tux had all the colors I wanted and made it simple. The only hard part with these boys was keeping them looking good, lets just say someone took an elbow to the eye playing basketball a few days before the wedding and another had a melting vest malfunction the morning of (all got fixed!). My man almost snuck in playing basketball before the wedding but lets just say that was banded real quick when I found out. I was banned from art so it was only fair!
